02When these terms apply

These terms apply to every order placed through this site. By completing an order you accept them. Nothing here limits the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory European or national law — where a term conflicts with those rights, your rights prevail and the rest of these terms continue to apply.

We sell to consumers, and to delivery addresses within the European Union. Orders from elsewhere are arranged individually by email.

03What you are buying

Icons of Cycling, published by teNeues in October 2021 — hardcover, 272 pages, ISBN 978-3-96171-355-4, with a foreword by Peter Sagan.

The copies sold here are ordinary trade copies from the author's own stock. Kirsten Van Steenberge signs the title page by hand, writes in a number, and encloses a signed certificate of authenticity matching that number.

This is not a separate edition issued by teNeues, and no quantity is fixed or implied. What makes your copy distinct is the author's signature and number, nothing else. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by the publisher.

Because each copy is signed by hand, no two are identical. Small variations in the signature, the ink and the position of the number are inherent to the product and are not defects.

05How the contract is formed

  1. You complete the order form and are taken to Mollie's secure payment page.
  2. Payment alone does not conclude the contract; it is your offer to buy.
  3. The contract exists when we send you the order confirmation email. That email, together with these terms, is your record of it.
  4. If we cannot fulfil an order — stock exhausted, an obvious pricing error, an address we cannot ship to — we will tell you promptly and refund you in full within 14 days. No other compensation is due.

Before paying you can review and correct every field in the order form. The contract is concluded in English, German, French or Dutch, according to the language you used.

06Payment

Payment is processed by Mollie B.V. We never see or hold your card or bank details. Available methods include iDEAL, Bancontact, card and bank transfer, depending on your country. Payment is due in full at the time of ordering.

07Delivery

08Your right of withdrawal

As a consumer buying at a distance you may withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of receiving the book, without giving any reason.

How to withdraw

  1. Tell us within 14 days of delivery — email is fine, and any clear statement will do. You may use the model form below but you are not obliged to.
  2. Send the book back within 14 days of telling us.
  3. We refund the full price plus standard outbound delivery within 14 days of receiving the book back, or of your proof of return, whichever comes first. We refund by the same method you paid with, at no cost to you.

Return postage is yours unless the book arrived damaged, incorrect, or not as described. You are liable only for any loss in value caused by handling beyond what is needed to establish the nature and condition of the book — reading it carefully is fine; writing in it is not.

Model withdrawal form — copy, complete, and email it to us

I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract of sale for the following goods:
Ordered on / received on: ______________
Order reference: ______________
Name of consumer: ______________
Address of consumer: ______________

09Dedicated copies

If you ask for a personal dedication, the author writes your chosen words into that copy by hand. It is then made to your specification and clearly personalised, and under Article 16(c) of Directive 2011/83/EU the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to it.

You are told this before you order, and the dedication field is optional. Leave it empty and your full withdrawal right applies as set out above.

This exception touches nothing else: a dedicated copy that arrives damaged, incorrect or not as described is replaced or refunded exactly like any other.

10Legal guarantee of conformity

You have a statutory guarantee that the book matches its description and is of the quality you can reasonably expect. If it does not, you are entitled to have it repaired or replaced, and failing that to a price reduction or a refund. This right lasts at least two years from delivery and costs you nothing. It exists alongside your right of withdrawal, not instead of it.

11Damaged or incorrect deliveries

Tell us within 14 days of delivery, with a photograph if you can. We replace the copy at our cost, including return postage, or refund you if no replacement is available. A replacement is signed and numbered afresh.

12Liability

We are liable for foreseeable loss caused by our failure to meet these terms. We are not liable for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses, since we sell to consumers.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Where our liability may lawfully be limited, it is limited to the price you paid for the order.

13Circumstances beyond our control

If delivery is delayed by something outside our reasonable control — postal strikes, extreme weather, illness of the author — we will contact you with a new date. If the delay becomes unreasonable you may cancel and be refunded in full.

14Complaints and disputes

Write to kirsten.vansteenberge1@gmail.com. We acknowledge complaints within two working days and aim to resolve them within 14 days. Almost everything is settled this way.

If we cannot agree, you may take the matter to a consumer dispute resolution body in your country. The European Commission maintains the list of recognised bodies at consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu. We are not obliged to use such a body, and we assess each request on its merits.

The EU Online Dispute Resolution platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025 under Regulation (EU) 2024/3228. Any reference to it you find elsewhere is out of date.

15Intellectual property

The book, its photographs and its text belong to the publisher and to the individual photographers. Buying a copy gives you that copy, not any right in the work. The design, wording and images of this website belong to Echelons and may not be reproduced without permission.

16Accuracy of this site

We describe the book as accurately as we can. Page counts, photograph counts and publication details are taken from the publisher's own information. Colours shown on a screen are never an exact match for printed ink, and the photographs on this site are illustrative.

Obvious errors and omissions — a price shown as €14 instead of €145, a specification that is plainly wrong — do not bind us. Where we spot one after you have ordered, we will tell you promptly and refund you in full rather than quietly ship something different.

Nothing on this site is investment advice. The book is sold to be read and kept. We make no representation that any copy will hold or increase in value, and no statement here should be read as a promise about a resale market.

17Acceptable use

Please do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of this site, place orders you do not intend to pay for, or use automated systems to scrape or place orders. We may refuse or cancel an order where we reasonably believe this is happening, and refund anything already paid.

18Governing law

Dutch law applies. If you live elsewhere in the EU you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country, and you may bring proceedings in your own courts.

19If part of this fails

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing a term on one occasion does not waive it. We may update these terms, but the version that governs your purchase is the one published when you ordered — keep the confirmation email and you have it.

See also our privacy policy and our accessibility statement. Icons of Cycling is published by teNeues; the copies sold here are trade copies from the author's own stock, signed by him personally, and are not a separate teNeues edition.
